Golden Direct is complete!!! I’m SO happy!!! The send was pretty anti-climactic. I mean I fell off the LAST move last night, yeah, I suck. Anyway, I screwed up once on my first try. I grabbed a pocket all wrong and couldn’t adjust…I fell, and I whined. I rested 10 minutes, laced my shoes up, played some Triple 6 Mafia on the boombox and WRECKED SHOP AND SCREW!!!!! No screw-ups, domination, and a top-out…VERY COOL!!!I am glad I can think clearly again and no more project mobbing all of my energy and desires. I am once again “human”. I am once again FREE, I have completed my hardest climb and I am off to Spain next Thursday. PERFECT!!!All of the efforts and days put into this climb are SO special. I love rock climbing, and I love EVERYTHING about it.Thanks everyone for checkin’ out my bloggy-blog…The comments on the Segal stuff is HILARIOUS!!!

Dude Congratulations on the Golden Direct send!!! That is way sick. I really enjoy visiting the website to get the latest and greatest thats going on with you. Keep up the good work, peace out!
YEA JOE! So stoked for you on this. Congrats!
Not sure if you remember when we were there last month and I asked you if the rest spot on the variation was legit to which Colette said without the rest by doing a direct would be so much harder.
STOKED to hear you sent the direct!
Top send Joe. Great timing. Have an awesome time in Spain man. Real jealous.
Joe,
First off, Congrats!!
I just read a few of your posts, and over the past couple years have read many other articles (R&I, Climbing, online, etc) either about you directly or where you have been quoted. Everytime I see one of your articles/quotes I notice 2 underlining themes which may be affecting your climbing: 1) you are always comparing yourself to Dave G and the rest of the “better climbers” (your words, not mine), and 2) you throw a lot of “I suck” “I’m weak” etc etc into your posts/quotes. Seems to me that your mental game is holding you back. It may take a paradigm shift, but if you can believe in no uncertain terms that YOU are the BEST climber - you will become that person. But I don’t mean just ‘pretend to think that you might someday become…etc’ …I’m saying you really truly at the core HAVE to believe this about yourself. Clearly you don’t believe right now, otherwise you wouldn’t be saying shit like “I suck, but it was hard for me” after you just sent 5.14c/d.
Congrats again - you obviously got the skillz/physical side dialed, just work on the mental side and you’ll be sending 5.15b. Believe it!
