RRR and Fun.

The Red Rock Rendezvous is now over and WHOOOAH, whadda weekend. This was my 5th time attending and was my favorite one. Thanks to the best company in the world Gregory Packs!!!20100319-img_1897

I am always psyched on this event as it is growing every year and becoming a staple event for the climbing community. When I go to these events it feels like family and home. It’s funny, as I used to get tired and annoyed doing an event or attending the large gathering like OR. But now it’s a feeling I thrive on and really enjoy. It really is my family and I love all of you climbers… sounds lame I know, but every one of you are part the same circle and that holds a special value for all of us.20100319-img_188620100319-img_188420100319-img_188220100319-img_186920100319-img_192320100319-img_1906

My clinic was with Kevin Wilkinson on “Safe Falling and Leading At Your Limit.” It was a blast too. Chris Lindner had done this clinic in the past and had told me how “intense” it was. Teaching people to catch falls in a dynamic way isn’t the easiest thing. You have to simply experience the concept and do it. It was a riot non-the-less to watch these guys crashing each other into the wall on their first attempts. SO funny!!! When you top-rope you break the fall, when you lead you go with the fall, and this is a little scary sometimes. As well as the poor crash-test-dummy-climbers TAKING the falls… OOH man… I saw some scraped up legs and some rigid smiles from time to time, but in the end each person executed a perfect Soft-Catch and a perfect fall. I am proud of my clinic attendees and had a GREAT time, no lie.20100319-img_190420100319-img_200620100319-img_197820100320-img_205120100320-img_204620100320-img_202620100320-img_202520100320-img_201220100319-img_1908

The parties of course are part of every climber event and this was a nightly deal. All the hommies were there and even made some new hommies… And at the end of each night we were able to retire to our BALLER condo provided by Gregory. I swear, I am the luckiest dude in the world sometimes. This place was lavish including a huge hot-tub, a pool, palm trees, full kitchen and we STOCKED UP on munchies. I always appreciate a nice lavish stay in a hotel or condo like this. TOTAL treat.
