Who Remembers?

Aw man… one of my favorite things to do is watch climbing videos. Who remembers the old school ones like “3 Weeks And A Day” or Masters of Stone 3, and The Pusher vids like Fast Twitch? They are SO funny to watch these days, but relevant ya know? Those movies changed my LIFE!!!! LIterally. Watching Fred Nicole doing Martini Right and Boone Speed jibber jabbering away about how he “clipped fast” and “changed his style to do it” on Super Tweak 8c, that stuff made me want to become a climber. That’s my generation right there and I know there are some of you reading this that probably shared the same feeling. All the goofy double dynos and Rock Warriors were a RIOT!!!! I just copped some vids off of bouldering.com. The download is easy and was pretty cheap. The Professionals was another video that I watched over and over and over during my triumph with the route Kryptonite 9a. And Sharma looking like a total hippy in Best In The West… HA… ULTRA cheesey. Anyway… I figured I would post up a little blurb about this since there might be others out there interested. All for the motivation. Downloads here.

Also, the hommie Dave Graham has a bad ass mix he is seeding throughout the internet and I gotta say… The dude is really hooking up some tight beats. Some of the most random songs are mixed in and I love that eclectic feel. Cop it here…CLICK

One more thing… Who remembers that group 3rd Bass? SO old-school and completely IN and then OUT of the music industry. Well… we have a fine representation of that old group still amongst us. Everyone I bring to you….. TIM KEMPLE.

Ha, got same obsession. It started with Master of Stone III, then Dosage series and recently I’m completely obsessed with atmosphere captured in Rampage ;] Gr8 psyche movies!

i love watching yank on this, big up, one summer, the real thing, west coast pimp, etc. watching Fred on martini right totally changed my life. i skipped my senior prom and got in my first hueco trip in ‘98, a whopping 4 days in june. i didn’t know any better. when i saw the martini up close i was in shock at how impossible it looked. as of last trip, it’s almost linked up. i can’t wait for all of the rain this weekend so i can climb in my basement and watch VHS vids! awesome. not.

those are some classics… three weeks and a day I watched like my 2nd month climbing. All those MOS films were good! Pretty funny how those Professionals got shut down on every single route they tried. Sorry Big Frank!

    Suuuuuper - tweak

Best beginning of a movie ever. Unmatched to this day.
I tried to find the soundtracks to theses films, but he bands were too obscure…

They were in a weird space where bad CGI, heavy metal, long hair and climbing combined in sometimes cheesy, sometimes inspiring ways. Unique. Someone needs to do a hommage or a parody some of these days.

Henry Barber supposedly put up a line in the 70’s in Philly that only myself and one other person has repeated (i think). it’s a solid V8. respect.
