South Africa 1 Johannesburg

Departing from Barcelona ended well with a little time with the hommies, a World Cup insight, and some fireworks.  It was a perfect end to our European trip and again made me realize how much I love this life.  Till next time Europe!

Summer Solstice celebrating!!!

After the long day of travel yesterday with a wake-up call at 3am and traveling until 11pm last night we arrived to Johannesburg, South Africa.   Neil Margetts scooped us up from the airport and took us directly to our hotel which is located in a shopping center/casino area.  It is 5 star place and plllllush!!!  We were worked from all of the travel and needless to say sleeping was easy.

Klemen Becan and me... good hommie.

Melissa just killing it on these bizzaaaaare boulder problems. Non holds and pure funk. I could not believe the WC problems... SO odd.

Alex Puccio just turding on the whole game... she got 2nd I think?

Drinks with the crew.

Today we woke up and met up with a friend of the SANFC named Tobble (spelling?), who is of Zulu descent and someone who took us around the city.  Tobble explained to us that he would show us the “Heart of Joburg”.  We had no clue what we were doing today.  I am usually bored with sight-seeing and touring around.  But with a camera it can be a little more fun.  We visited museums, neighborhoods, bars, flea markets, and the realest of real ghettos here in South Africa.  It has been an entirely eye opening day today.  I am exhausted.  This could not have been a better introduction to South Africa.  I have learned an incriment of how this place is so rich with history (it is mind boggling).  With Apparthied, segregation, Nelson Mandela, the colonization and everything else in between.   The thought of equality was only established a mere 10-15 years ago is pretty emotional.  This is where we are right now and culturally this has to be one of the most stimulating places I have been yet…  I cannot wait to get in deeper and learn more.

4am Airport BCN.
