After a nice 5 hour drive I arrived here in Lander Tuesday night. Bj and Emily Tilden are taking care of me with a place to stay, a bed…all the necessities. SO nice. Like Colette says….we have THE best friends in the world. True dat!

Wednesday Odub, Yasmine, and Amy Skinner and I went up to Wild Iris. DAYUMN…what a beautiful place. SIMPLY amazing. Solid white limestone with some orange lichen, a huge prairie of wild flowers and grass and blue skies. This is the work of the late Todd Skinner. He put up most of the routes along with Paul Piana back in the day.

The style is intense at Wild Iris…VERY fingery and a little tweaky for the person who isn’t used to real deal pocket climbing. I hooked up a few routes up to 8a, then tried a little harder. NEGATIVE…this is a style that takes a strength in your tendons to climb the harder routes. I was a bit intimidated by the monos and shallow two finger pocket pulls. SERIOUS pulling on those kindsa grips could ruin your arms and fingers. Not tryin to do that…. I will keep it mellow at Wild Iris…Word.

The next day we went to Sinks Canyon. PROPA….way more do able and less tweaker than Iris. Nice long routes in the killer cave were perfect. Odub hooked up a couple of 12d/13a’s and I did the same add a 13c. NICE… This cliff is surely an old school joint with the goofy chipped holds and random lines drilled up a blank wall… (I will never get that)… the cliff is stacked with routes for all types of climbers from 5.6 to 5.14b.

Last night Odub and Misty Murphy performed outside at a pub in Lander. There was a LOAD of people and lots of drinking going on. LOTS of fun. Climbing events always get this way…partying and goofing off….I love it.

Tonight is my slideshow presentation. I am prepping for now and still feeling a little faded from last night…UGH!!! I am very psyched to present tonight being in a primarily sport climbing area. This works with my show well with all the sport climbing vids and photos….YAYUUUUUHHHH!!!!! IMA PROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!
